Terms and Conditions of Rental

Rental period

The minimum rental period is 24 hours, with a 1 hour delay limit. Additional delays are charged as an extra day.

Driver’s age and driver’s license

Minimum age limit is 23 years & maximum 70 years. The driver’s license must have been issued 1 year prior to the rental date. In case the driver is not a resident of the European Union, he is obliged to bring an international license to be able to legally drive in Greece.

Insurance & Liability Amounts

Insurance to third parties: Provides coverage for death & injury to third parties up to €1,000,000 and material damage to third parties up to €1,000,000 – excluding the Alexiou Rent a Car – Book a Transfer vehicle.

Basic accident insurance (CDW):

Limits the amount of damage liability up to €930 in categories A1, A, AA, B1, B, BA, C, CD, V, up to €1,302 in categories D, DD, DA, E, H, G1, G and up to €1,860 in categories F1, F, R1, R, K, V1, V2. Damage to the bottom, rims, tires, mirrors, antenna, crystals and interior are not covered.

Theft insurance (TW):

Limits the liability amount for theft to €930 in categories A1, A, AA, B1, B, BA, C, CD, V, to €1,302 in categories D, DD, DA, E, H, G1, G and at €1,860 in categories F1, F, R1, R, K, V1, V2. The renter is not covered, in case of theft of all or part of the car, caused by his negligence (e.g. if he left the car unlocked or left the key in the ignition switch). Theft insurance is charged per day.

Full accident insurance (FDW):

Eliminates or further limits the amount of liability for damage to the vehicle. Liability amounts are €0 in categories A1, A, AA, B1, B, BA, C, CD, V, up to €248 in categories D, DD, DA, E, H, G1, G and up to €558 in categories F1, F, R1, R, K, V1, V2. Damage to the bottom, rims, tires and tires are not covered. Full accident insurance is charged per day.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):

It provides coverage to the driver of up to €15,000 for death, total or partial disability & coverage of €1,000 for hospital expenses. Personal accident insurance is charged per day.

No insurance coverage applies:

when transporting the vehicle by ship
if the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
for damage caused by driving on unpaved roads
for damage to the bottom, rims, tires, mirrors, antenna, windows and interior
for loss of personal items inside the vehicle
for accidents caused by a driver not stated in the rental contract
for loss or destruction of a vehicle key
for loss or damage to GPS Navi devices, child seats, snow chains or other additional equipment

The cost of damage or loss of the car is paid even if the renter is insured by a third party insurance service. In this case, the renter is obliged to pay Alexiou Rent a Car – Book a Transfer the entire cost of repairing or replacing the car, which he will then claim from the other insurance company.

IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE CUSTOMER, REGARDLESS OF HIS LIABILITY, IS OBLIGATED TO COMPLETE THE ACCIDENT DECLARATION, BASED ON ARTICLE K70 OF THE GREEK LAW.

Warranty

A credit card is not required to rent a vehicle.

Additional Driver

In each car rental, only the declared driver is covered by the above insurances. In the event that other drivers are also going to drive the rented vehicle, they should be declared in the rental contract at the start of the rental. Required documents are a national ID card or passport and a valid driver’s license.

Additional facilities

Child seats, snow chains and GPS Navi systems are available on request, free of charge per day (maximum duration 7 days). They must be mentioned in the reservation.

Fuel policy

Fuel is calculated in eighths. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel that was delivered. Otherwise, charges of €12 plus the cost of the missing fuel apply. No refunds or credits for extra fuel in the tank.

Transportation by boat

It is declared upon receipt of the vehicle. A written permission from Alexiou Rent a Car – Book a Transfer is required with an additional cost of €20 per route.

Restrictions

It is forbidden to drive outside the Greek borders, to drive on dirt roads, to transport heavy objects and in general to misuse it. Charges of up to €98 apply for special cleaning on vehicles returned with an excessively dirty interior (eg food stains, coffee etc.) indicating misuse.

Administrative costs

In the event of an accident there is a non-refundable fee of €62.00.

Traffic violations

The renter assumes full responsibility for any traffic violations and is obliged to pay any debts to the competent services. Otherwise, the amount of the violation will be charged plus the amount referred to as “Administrative costs” (€62.00).

Payment methods

Rent can be paid by credit, debit or prepaid card, cash and bank deposit or cash at least 48 hours before the start of the rental. A deposit equal to 30% of the total rental price is required to complete a reservation.

Cancellation of reservation

In case of cancellation of the reservation up to 15 days before the departure date, the entire amount of the deposit is returned. For cancellations within 15 days before departure, the entire deposit is not refunded.

Contract

Upon receipt of the vehicle, a corresponding lease agreement containing the above terms and conditions is signed.
